Barrenwort

(Epimedium brevicornum)

Barrenwort is native to China and commonly used in Chinese traditional herbal medicine for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It contains flavonoid glycosides, hyperoside, icariin, epimedin B, epimedin C, and inositol. Some compounds, like breviflavone B, cycloolivil, beta-sitosterol, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde, succinic acid, and p-hydroxyphenethyl were recently isolated from this plant for the first time.

Barrenwort may be beneficial for problems related to sexual performance, such as erectile dysfunction and low libido. It may also be beneficial for lower back, knee, and joint pain, arthritis, mental and physical fatigue, and memory loss.
