Peppermint is a hybrid that came from the crossing between spearmint (Mentha spicata) and water mint (Mentha aquatica). Originating from Europe, it is grown worldwide. It is one of the most widely consumed single ingredient herbal teas. Peppermint leaves contain menthol, menthone, menthyl acetate, 1,8-cineole, limonene, beta-pinene, and beta-caryophyllene.

Peppermint may be beneficial for digestion, diarrhea, IBS, bad breath, headache, migraine, insomnia, menstrual cramps, menopause, muscle pain, nerve pain, toothache, itching skin, and as an insect repellent.
