Dandelion is native to Europe. It is considered one of the most nutritious vegetables on Earth. Dandelion leaves contain beta-carotene, vitamin B1, B2, choline, inositol, folic acid, C, calcium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, taraxacin, bitter glycosides, and terpenoids.

Dandelion leaves may be beneficial as a diuretic, for anemia, appetite loss, bedwetting, insomnia, muscular rheumatism, nervousness, stomachache, and urinary tract infections.
